We have an exciting new opportunity for a full time permanent Internal Auditor to join our enterprise-wide Group Audit team. Group Audit supports AGL's Board and management team through the provision of assurance, advice and insight on the management of AGL's key risks including Health Safety & Environment (HSE) and Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) risks.

Internally referred to as the Internal Audit Manager - HSE, you will take a leading role in planning, executing and reporting on HSE assurance activities across our diverse business as set out in the annual Group Audit Plan.

This role is key to building relationships and collaborating with stakeholders across Business Units, Corporate functions and operating sites, enabling risks to be identified and managed as is reasonably practicable for compliance to applicable legislative obligations and in alignment to industry better practices for HSE.

What you’ll be doing:
Reporting to the Senior Audit Manager - ESG, you will:

- Manage the day to day delivery of the Group Audit Plan
- Lead and / or conduct audit engagements as defined by the annual Group Audit plan, in addition to reviews outside the approved Plan as requested by the Audit and Risk Management Committee, General Manager Group Audit or Senior Audit Managers
- Build stakeholder relationships to stay abreast of emerging external and internal risks and issues facing the business, which will include some travelling to sites;
- Ensure all work is performed and documented in compliance with established Group Audit Methodology and IIA standards and codes, ensuring all workpapers contain sufficient audit evidence on which to base conclusions, with all judgements, assumptions and decisions fully documented
- Prepare draft reports of audit findings (including actions to address identified control weaknesses) and escalate through senior members of Group Audit and key audit stakeholders within agreed timeframes
- Validate the completion of audit actions to confirm that improvements to the control environment have been achieved

About You

What you’ll bring to the table:

- Previous experience as an in-house or consultant Internal Auditor in a regulated/high risk/complex industry
- HSE experience and exposure to risk and control frameworks
- Ability to deliver high quality work with mínimal supervision, demonstrating self-motivation and a strong desire to add value and produce quality audit outcomes and outputs
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Uses sound commercial judgement as a basis for planning and decision-making
- Works co-operatively with others to achieve objectives, displaying an understanding of group dynamics, being a team player, being collegial and collaborative and respectful
- Demonstrates leadership qualities, managing problems and providing assistance / guidance to others as required
- Tertiary qualification essential
