**About - Chief Human Resources Officer Group**
This function is responsible for developing the people strategy to support the University’s strategic plan and is accountable for the performance and delivery of the Human Resources function across the University. It provides policy, industrial relations, governance and other critical advice and guidance ensuring that the University is compliant and cohesive whilst creating a culture that attracts and retains talent. The function is also responsible for creating and maintaining a safe workplace where people can thrive and do their best work.

**About the Role**

Reporting to the Director, HR Strategy, Governance and Operational Excellence in the Governance, Risk and Policy team, the HR Policy Officer provides supports and delivers high-level employment policy projects.

Through a proactive, solutions-focussed approach and deep engagement with diverse stakeholders the role explores and makes recommendations on policy topics, drafts and amends policies, develops issues papers, provides reporting, manages communications, and assists in driving key HR policy projects that support the University’s strategic and operational objectives.

The role will also work with the CHRO on an as-needs basis to support the delivery of continuous improvement projects across the whole of the HR function.

Additional responsibilities include:

- Supports the HR Policy Manager and the HR Governance, Risk and Policy team in delivering, monitoring and reporting on HR policy projects.
- Ensures that sector-specific and HR-related reforms and trends that impact on all aspects of HR are identified and reflected in the team’s priorities and planning.
- Prepares, contributes to, delivers and manages communications including briefings, reports, policy briefings and submissions that are of high quality, comprehensive, accurate, and timely.
- Supports end-to-end policy-related activities and initiatives and proactively ensures deadlines are met.

**About You**
You possess exceptional communication, interpersonal and influencing skills, and the ability to form effective, trusted working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and negotiate outcomes that are best for the organisation. You display a high-level of autonomy in your work with outstanding problem-solving and organisational skills, allowing you to manage competing priorities within a dynamic environment, and demonstrate respect and sound judgment at all times.

You will also have:

- Tertiary qualifications in management, business, law or other relevant field required, and/or substantial experience in a similar or equivalent role.
- Experience in HR operations, ideally working across large and complex organisations to drive change and transformation through analysis and evaluation, managing confidential information as required.
- Experience in HR project and program management and associated reporting, including effective stakeholder engagement, monitoring of progress and responding to challenges and opportunities, and focusing on innovation to deliver successful outcomes.
- Excellent analytical, strategic, data management, conceptual and problem-solving skills with the ability to glean actionable insights and clearly communicate recommendations.
