SunDrive is a Sydney based solar technology start-up on a mission to unlock solar’s full potential. In September 2021, we produced the world’s most efficient commercial size solar cell using our very own revolutionary copper technology, showing that higher efficiencies for solar can also be reached.

Founded in 2015 by two university flatmates in a garage in Wollongong we have come a long way. We recently secure $21 million in our Series A funding round and are backed by some backed by some of Australia’s top venture capital firms (Blackbird, Main Sequence, Virescent, Grok), tech founders, and the Australian Government, SunDrive has grown from a small PhD project in a garage to now producing world leading solar technology.

After our recent round of funding, we are ready to show our cells to the world and are gearing up to go to market with large-scale pilot Manufacturing for our world-leading technology.

As a Mechanical Technician at SunDrive, you will be responsible for the manufacturing and assembly of the pilot production line equipment manufactured inhouse. You will be directly involved in constructing our pilot production line, and will have the opportunity to scale this up in the future to make SunDrive’s pioneering technology widely available. This will speed up the process in which the team is able to manufacture these tools hence speeding up SunDrive’s timeline to market entry.

**Responsibilities**:

- Manufacture and assemble the mechanical system designed by the mechanical engineering team at SunDrive.
- Ordering components, maintaining tools, and assisting in testing and verification of systems.
- Maintaining the tools required to build these systems.
- Assisting in the testing and verification of such systems.
- Prototyping of your responsible sub-system which can include 3D printing, CNC machining, and hand tool assembly.
- Assembly of components to be used directly on the pilot production line. This can include, frames, Belts, Buffers, Gantrys,

**Requirements**:

- Mechanical Engineering degree (or similar) is highly desired but not essential.
- Basic knowledge of CAD software with SolidWorks being preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of working with prototyping tools such as 3D printers, power tools and hand tools.
- Knowledge of reading engineering drawings and assembly drawings.
- Ability to be hands-on, use power and hand tools to assemble components, testing rigs, perform experiments and build production tools.
- Proven track record of working in multi-disciplinary teams on projects that involve mechanical, electrical and software engineering.
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Ability to coordinate within your team and prioritise work as necessary.
