McCallum General Engineering is a family run business located in Cheltenham, South

East Melbourne, which specialise in all aspects of mechanical engineering. At MGE we offer a diverse ranges of engineering, including general engineering, precision machining, break down maintenance and preventative maintenance programs.

**Daily tasks will involve**:

- Manual machining, both Milling & Turning
- Horizontal Boring
- Slotting
- Grinding
- Cutting up material
- Welding
- CNC Machining
- General & Plant maintenance
- Both on & off site work
- Material and machine inspections using precision measuring equipment such as internal micrometers, external micrometers, rules, calipers, protractors.
- Loading, transporting, and unloading materials, tools, equipment and supplies.
- Performing minor maintenance or cleaning of tools and equipment.

- The ability to work in a team as well as individually
- Excellent computer, numeracy, and literacy skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong ability to plan work
- Effective time management
- Strong mathematical and mechanical aptitude

- Prepared to complete a nationally recognised qualification, Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering, over 3 years and attend trade school
- Commitment to full term of the apprenticeship
- Prepared to start with the basics and grow your knowledge base within this exciting industry, working with a team of leaders in their field
- Be flexible, and prepared to work hard to meet customer demands
- Demonstrated interested/passion in the trade
- Physically fit - Lifting up to 15 kg is required.
- Drivers licence and own transport would be good
