**The Opportunity**

We have an opportunity for a General Manager Operations Support to be part of our Fisheries & Aquaculture Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.

The General Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating a range of functions to support fisheries operations. The General Manager facilitates, manages and provides strategic directions for the operations and delivery of the critical functions associated with investigations, prosecutions, offshore marine patrol vessels, fish care volunteers, and fisheries trainee development.

The General Manager is accountable for:

- Ensuring Operations Support meets its performance targets in terms of budget, compliance outcomes, and risk management.
- Ensuring Operations Support’s activities integrate with obligations of the PIRSA strategic plan and Fisheries and Aquaculture divisional priorities enabling staff to effectively manage work outcomes.
- Regularly reporting to the Director Operations matters of significance, progress of targets, and progress towards the business unit performance outcomes.

The General Manager will also play a key role in leading, developing, and mentoring staff to improve overall performance and delivery of organisational outcomes in areas of responsibility.

The role contributes to delivering the agency’s priorities including development and delivery of strategic priorities that align with the State and PIRSA Strategic Plans, and are consistent with state and national legislation and, develops and fosters collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders at national, regional and local levels, including industry, other PIRSA divisions and other state and Commonwealth government agencies.

The General Manager is responsible for providing advice and support to the Director Operations, to address a range of challenges associated with the efficient management of the business unit, including:

- Ensuring investigations and prosecutions advance in a timely manner and the activities are efficient for both PIRSA and the parties involved; and
- Enabling the effective operational management of patrol vessels and other assets to ensure effective field-based compliance programs across the state, particularly with respect to the strategic planning and use of high value offshore vessels.
- Provide strategic oversite of significant assets including the replacement plans for patrol vessels and their ongoing maintenance.
- Ensuring engagement with volunteers and other community-based groups to advance the objectives of Fisheries and Aquaculture.

**Remuneration**

MAS3 - $106,354 min - $127,859 max per annum, plus superannuation
