**About the opportunity**

We have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Regulatory and Strategic Risk Manager to join Energy Safe's Strategy and Risk Team within the Finance, Strategy and Risk Division.

**You will contribute by**:

- Identification, analysis and prioritisation of regulatory risks, as well as contributing to regulatory design to achieve safety outcomes.
- Provide expert advice to the Head of Strategy and Risk on regulatory and safety outcomes relating to priority harms and risks associated with the energy system.
- Ensure the management and continuous improvement of Energy Safe's risk management system, including compliance with the Victorian Government Risk Management Framework (VGRMF).
- Support the Head of Strategy and Risk in the management of Energy Safe's strategic risks, ensuring the organisation applies effective risk management.
- Manage the internal audit function and provide advice to the Audit and Risk Committee regarding the effective management of risks across the organisation.
- Lead and contribute to organisation wide projects or projects with other regulators such as special regulatory harms projects, business improvement initiatives and developing a safety assurance capability.
- Develop, implement and manage department owned policies, procedures and documents that ensure Energy Safe achieves statutory responsibilities, strong governance practices and provide value to external and internal stakeholders.
- Undertake specific projects or activities as required, representing Energy Safe's interests and effectively managing external and internal stakeholders.

**To be successful, you'll have**:

- Relevant tertiary qualification preferably in regulation, science or technology.
- Extensive experience in safety (preferably energy safety), regulatory, governance and/or strategy or similar.
- Proven record of achievement in risk identification, analysis and representation/ visualisation (e.g. bow-tie diagrams) that have driven business process and outcome improvements or similar.
- Project management experience including organising, analysing, problem solving and decision making.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills including initiative, influencing and negotiation skills to ensure effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent strategic agility and ability to work creatively and analytically in decision making and problem-solving environments, with excellent critical thinking and writing skills.
- Superior analytical research skills and the ability to provide advice and/or reports to senior management on complex technical issues or regulatory harms, to support decision making.
- Experience in risk-based regulation, risk and strategy, governance, assurance (e.g. systems safety assurance), legal and policy.
