Design Manager, Water

This is your chance to drive the future ready engineering design solutions and be responsible for leading the delivery of high-quality design delivery on water infrastructure projects in SA, VIC, QLD, NSW and TAS.

**Design Manager, Water**:
Our Water team takes a holistic and sustainable approach to managing the use of water resources. We support governments, investors, developers, manufacturers, utilities, and corporations by mitigating risks, meeting regulatory requirements, reducing the cost of water use and disposal, as well as creating strategies for a sustainable future.

We work with key water authorities nationally including Hunter Water, Sydney Water, Southeast Water, Melbourne Water, Greater Western Water, TasWater, Logan Water, SA Water and Urban Utilities to name a few.

**What you'll do**:

- Deploy risk management principles & methodologies into project systems and processes.
- Accountable for business and project delivery as required to lead the delivery of high-quality design delivery on project.
- Work in partnership with other design organisations in Alliance or JV.
- Management of design team and interfacing with contractor workforce.
- Seek design team resources for each project. The ultimate responsibility for providing resources lies with the business section executive.
- Prepare design fee estimates for both the “tender design phase” and the “delivery phase” of each project.
- Liaise with other key roles of the Alliance or JV.
- Manage the overall delivery of designs to time, budget and quality. You’ll also manage Engineering governance processes (design reviews, change management, request for information, validation and verification, etc., related to the design.)
- Management of design team and interfacing with contractor workforce.

**About you**:

- Recognised Bachelors degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical (Process) or Electrical engineering
- Relevant (Water) industry experience.
- Demonstrated high level of technical knowledge.
- Strong experience in working in partnership with other design organisations in Alliance or JV. Skilled in managing conflicts between organisational cultures and business systems demands
- Extensive experienced in owning and being responsible for signing off on design. Delivered designs that meet legal requirements, quality standards and client outcomes on projects.
- Established and managed complex design processes and systems in high profile projects
- Proven competency in project management.
- Demonstrated leadership and management ability.
- Demonstrated sound technical knowledge.
- Able to juggle multiple tasks across several projects across the business unit.
- Basic knowledge of contracts or drafting variations desirable.
- Knowledge and experience in cost reporting, analysis, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word essential.
