Art Teacher

Applicants should expect to be able to deliver the following:
- To carry out professional duties and to have responsibility for assigned Art classes in the Primary School
- To be responsible for the day-to-day learning and management of classes and the safety and welfare of the students, during on-site and off-site activities
- To promote the aims and objectives of the school and maintain its philosophy of education
- To demonstrate outstanding discipline-based knowledge and experience in Art across the Primary Years.
- Maintain a regular system of planning, monitoring, feedback and assessment, record-keeping and reporting of students’ progress, including the use of the Compass learning management system
**Typical Activities**:
- motivating and stimulating the children's learning abilities;
- interacting with and supporting children, providing them with a secure environment to learn; devising and producing visual aids and teaching resources;
- organising learning materials and resources, and making imaginative use of resources;
- assisting with the development of children's personal/social and language abilities;
- encouraging children's creative development through art practice;
- developing children's curiosity and knowledge;
- working with others to plan and coordinate work;
- sharing knowledge gained with other practitioners and parents;
- observing, assessing and recording each child's progress;
- ensuring the health and safety of children and staff is maintained during all activities;
- continually learning and reflecting on current research in the area of Progressive Education and attending professional development when available.
**Planning and development of Programs and Policies**:
- Participate in all required school meetings, parent evenings and whole school training events
- Contribute to the development and coordination of the art curriculum
- Ensure that school policies are reflected in daily practice
**Communication with Parents**:
- Initiate communication and consultation with parents on a regular basis over all aspects of their children’s education - academic, social and emotional
- Follow up with parents any concerns in regard to engagement, attendance, punctuality and behaviour

**School Staff and Volunteers**:
Responsibilities of School Staff (school employees, contractors and volunteers) include:
- treating children and young people with dignity and respect, acting with propriety, providing a duty of care and protecting children and young people in their care.
- providing a physically and psychologically safe environment where the wellbeing of children and young people is nurtured.
- undertake regular training and education in order to understand their individual responsibilities in relation to child safety, and the wellbeing of children and young people, including ways to prevent, identify and mitigate risks relating to child safety and wellbeing.
- assisting children and young people to develop positive, responsible and caring relationships and behaviours which recognise the rights of all people to be safe and free from abuse.
- participate in child safety and wellbeing induction and training provided by the School and always follow
