**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**:
The Cleansing/Streetscapes/Infrastructure team focuses on managing the daily presentation of the public domain within the Cumberland City Area, ensuring that it is maintained and presented so that residents and visitors are proud of the area and it meets their expectations.
In contributing to the overarching vision, the Duty Officer - Cleansing will be held accountable for the shift operation of Council’s Cleansing Services, ensuring Council’s Public Domain is maintained on a daily basis to meet the expectations of the community by implementing a works program utilising the industries best practice. The Duty Officer Cleansing will be responsible for the supervision of staff and contractors to ensure that scheduled maintenance is completed and customer and stakeholder requests are addressed.
The spread of hours for this role operates across 24 hours on a rotational basis, including night, day and afternoon shifts.
The successful applicant will require:
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a similar role
- A well-developed understanding of cleansing operations
- Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and supervise multiple teams in cleansing operations
- Demonstrated sound knowledge in multiple cleansing operational areas such as town centre cleansing, street sweeping, litter and rubbish collection, graffiti removal, coordination of work crews, work programs and equipment scheduling
- Proven ability to develop collaborative relationships with peers, customers and community organisations and an ability to work as part of a team with good interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate a strong customer focus with sound customer service skills and the ability to embrace a system of change and continual improvement
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively complete relevant administration tasks associated with the position
- Computer literacy, particularly in the MS office suite packages and TechOne
- Current Medium Rigid (MR) Drivers Licence
- General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- Current Traffic Control Work Training Card (Blue and Yellow Card).

**Position information**: This is a permanent, full-time position, working a 35 hour week, with access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) arrangement. While this role will predominantly work the afternoon shift (10:30am to 7pm), there will be occasional requirements to work the morning (5:00am to 1:30pm) or night shift (9pm to 5:30am).
This role is predominantly located at Council's Guilford and Auburn depot, with occasional travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations.
**Salary information**: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 11 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,656.10 to $1,904.51 per week, plus 11% superannuation
