**The Role**
The BSM is expected to manage and coordinate the FAA budget by analysing budget expenditure and variances while collaborating with stakeholders to ensure budgetary compliance. The BSM will provide guidance, training and support to a team of Business Support Officers within the FAA and will supervise a small team.
The BSM is a high tempo position that will on occasion require surge periods of work outside of normal working hours in order to achieve FAA objectives.
**About our Team**
The Headquarters Fleet Air Arm Business Support Management division is an integral and critical workforce within the Fleet Air Arm Business Management Unit (BMU). The BMU is a small but very dynamic, resourceful and high performing team, delivering and ensuring all business requirements to an expected level of professionalism to the FAA Force Commander (COMFAA).
COMFAA is responsible to the Navy Fleet Commander (COMAUSFLT) for providing operationally ready and airworthy Navy aircraft through the command and management of the Navy Aviation capability and the development, oversight and regulation of Airworthiness in accordance with Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASR).
HQFAA provide overarching business management of the subordinate shore based Squadrons/Units and the multiple Ship’s Flights on-board Royal Australian Navy Ships.
The Headquarters Fleet Air Arm is located in the Shoalhaven region of NSW and is an organisation with a long and tremendously proud history through 76 years of delivering exceptional Navy Aviation capability to the Navy Fleet Command.
To be successful in the role you will need to be a highly motivated, team focused individual who can work under limited direction within a network of internal and external stakeholders. The role requires experience in financial management, policy expertise and the ability to communicate complex information effectively. The ability to remain flexible in a changing environment is essential.
- Ensure knowledge of and compliance with legislative, financial and administrative frameworks, government decision-making processes and agency guidelines and regulations.
- Have an in-depth knowledge of the role and functions of the agency and an understanding of how these relate to a work area.
- Manage relationships with stakeholders to meet work area requirements and ensure positive customer outcomes.
- Assist in strategic planning, program and project management and/or policy development for the work area.
