The Transport Policy Branch works with a range of stakeholders across the organisation, as well as wider government and industry to position TMR for the future, shaping the long-term vision for Queensland's transport system, setting new directions and priorities for TMR, and supporting decision-makers with strategic policy. A fundamental element of this is working in partnership with Divisions to translate the vision and policy directions into tangible policy solutions that respond to government, societal, technological, economic, and environmental factors. In the role of Principal Advisor, you will deliver strategic projects, policy, frameworks and programs that provide direction for the development of the transport system in Queensland.

**Accountabilities include**:

- Identify complex strategic transport policy issues, develop options and recommendations, and contribute to the implementation of projects, and/or programs that support the direction for the transport system in Queensland.
- Inform strategic positioning activities of the Department of TMR in response to emerging customer requirements and local, state and national transport system policy and issues.
- Research and analyse issues, risks and challenges confronting the transport system, including those associated with climate change and other emerging transport policy issues.
- Provide high level advice on transport system priorities, policy and challenges related to policies associated with reducing transport emissions, including the transition to electric vehicles and use of hydrogen, and other emerging transport policy issues.
- Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders across the department, government, industry and community in relation to the achievement of strategic transport system priorities.
- Represent the department as required in relation to organisational and local, state and national transport issues and policies.
- Participate in project teams, including internal and external stakeholders, to develop and implement strategic transport policy and projects within agreed parameters.
- Prepare timely and well researched cabinet submissions, briefs and/or policy documents.
- Actively participate in performance conversations to build and support a culture of performance improvement. This position reports to the Manager (Policy Integration).
