Extent has an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior heritage advisor with specialist expertise in Aboriginal heritage. We are seeking a new Team Leader for our Victorian Aboriginal heritage team, based in our Melbourne office in Brunswick.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced practitioner who is ready to step up into a team leadership role and join our national management team, or an experienced team leader who is seeking a move into a specialist heritage consultancy run and owned by heritage professionals.

Extent Heritage is committed to high quality innovative research work. You will have a talented and highly motivated team ready to work with you, including the support of highly-respected senior professionals in the Victorian team.

**Essential (Selection) Criteria**

The following criteria is considered essential:

- Appropriate degree (archaeology, anthropology, and/or history) with Honours or equivalent;
- 7+ years’ experience in Cultural Resource Management within an Australian context;
- Demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal cultural heritage management in Victoria;
- Demonstrated experience in client liaison, project management, directing project teams, working to deadlines within budget constraints, develop and mentor junior staff and engaging and managing subcontractors;
- Demonstrated experience in Aboriginal community consultation;
- Demonstrated extensive experience in field investigations and recording, research, and heritage impact assessments;
- Demonstrated ability to scope and cost projects, prepare complex assessment and management reports to a high professional standard;
- Detailed knowledge of relevant Victorian and Commonwealth legislation such as the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2007, Traditional Owner Settlement Act 2010, and the Native Title Act 1993;
- Demonstrated experience in heritage sector business operations and strategic planning;
- Demonstrated ability to meet quality, health and safety, and environmental requirements;
- Knowledge of principles and best practice guidelines as outlined in the Australia ICOMOS Burra Charter;
- Valid Australian Drivers’ licence; and
- Construction Industry Safety Induction (White Card)

**Desirable Criteria**

The following criteria will be considered favourably:

- Active research interests and involvement with professional bodies.
- Specialist skills in one or more of the following: artefact analysis, GIS, surveying, geomorphology, geoarchaeology, geochronology, anthropology, ethno-historical research, cultural values and oral history recording, community engagement, archival photographic recording and/or heritage interpretation.
