- An exciting opportunity exists for a talented and passionate individual to join the First Peoples-State Relations Group as a Heritage Information Spatial Systems Officer at the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
- The responsibilities of the Heritage Service's branch include administering the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006, which includes protecting and managing Aboriginal cultural heritage, maintaining a register of Aboriginal places and objects, working collaboratively with Registered Aboriginal Parties, and fulfilling the Secretary's role in administering Cultural Heritage Permits and Cultural Heritage Management Plans.
- Working as part of the Heritage Registry and Information Systems Team, the Heritage Information Spatial Systems Officer role is responsible for helping to maintain spatial datasets which support the work of Heritage Services and the broader First Peoples - State Relations Group work profile and ensuring that they are accurate and up-to-date. The role also provides mapping support, technical and specialist advice to internal and external stakeholders and contributes to strategic policy development in relation to GIS and spatial information.
- This is a unique opportunity to work in new and innovative ways that recognise First Peoples as the self-determining drivers of Aboriginal affairs in Victoria. This role will contribute to the ground-breaking work of the Group in the areas of truth, treaty, self-determination and cultural rights.
- The First Peoples - State Relations Group recognises the invaluable contribution of existing Aboriginal staff and is committed to promoting Aboriginal leadership as reflected in the Group's executive team.

**About you**
- To succeed in this role, you will have:

- Sound project management skills with proven ability to work closely with other disciplines and roles as part of an agile, cross-functional team to deliver results.
- Well developed analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills with sound judgment and capacity to make decisions and recommendations where diverse interests need to be considered.
- Highly developed time management and organisational skills and a willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities with the ability to meet deadlines while working in pressured situations.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and provide advice on processes and policies with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. Experience working with Aboriginal communities would also be highly regarded.
- Mandatory requirements:
- A relevant tertiary degree in Geographic Information Systems or a degree in a relevant discipline involving advanced studies in Geographic Information Systems.
