**About the role**
- Manage and coordinate all quality activities across the Genetics and Molecular Pathology Directorate to enable the provision of a high quality, efficient and cost-effective service.
- Advise the Directorate Manager and Clinical Director on operational and quality matters and undertake complex projects as required.
- Medical Scientists at the MeS3 level will specialise within a professional discipline demonstrate leadership and may coordinate a number of subordinate medical scientists and paraprofessionals. Focussing on increasing the value, contributions, and effectiveness of the professional discipline within the agency or health unit. Operating under general policy direction in relation to the scientific aspects of a moderately complex area, the incumbent will determine operational priorities, strategies, work standards and allocation of resources providing a level of competence from extensive experience and/or additional study.
- Facilitate, guide and lead operational and clinical risk management.

**Essential Requirements**:

- Current National Police Clearance (NPC)
- Working With Children Check (DHS)
- Immunisation screening as indicated in the role description. SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.

**Educational/Vocational Qualifications**:
The Requirements for Supervision in the Clinical Governance of Medical Pathology Laboratories (Fifth Edition 2018) by the National Pathology Accreditation Advisory Council (NPAAC), defines a scientist as a person with competence to perform the functions required and who is authorised to perform these functions. A medical scientist must possess one of the following qualifications:

- _An associate qualification conferred by the Australian Institute of Medical Technologists before 1 December 1973_.
