Gas Fitter

ATCO owns and operates Western Australia's largest gas distribution network with more than 750,000 connection points and 14,000 km of pipelines.

We are currently seeking a Type B Gas Fitter to join our team as a Senior Gas Utilisation Inspector based in Jandakot, 15 mins from the Perth City Centre.

Using your technical knowledge and strong communication skills, you will be responsible for conducting Class B gas fitting inspections on consumer installations, leading and undertaking investigations, and reporting on installations in line with the Gas Inspection program, to ensure compliance with regulatory obligations and gas installation standards.

This role would suit someone who has experience in Class B/Type B Gas Fitting who is keen to get off the tools and help maintain and improve installation standards across Western Australia.

**Major Role Accountabilities**:

- Conducting inspections on New and Additional Gasfitting Work (predominantly industrial and commercial) in accordance with performance standards.
- Issuing Notices of Defects to Gas Fitters, or Inspectors Orders to customers to address non-compliant gas installations, monitoring receipt of Notices of Rectification within specified timeframes, and actioning as required.
- Leading investigations into gasfitting breaches, unauthorised gasfitting work, and consumer gas installation incidents, and preparing investigative reports to Building & Energy for enforcement action such as prosecution.
- Liaises with customers to provide assistance and expert technical advice with design, fault finding and problem-solving issues as it relates to consumer gas installations.
- Provides gas installation technical advice with regard to large industrial and commercial complex projects, so as to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and resolution of issues associated with proposed designs and upgrades.
- Interfacing with gas metering and service equipment, with the provision of technical support to ATCO Construction, Engineering and Business Development teams as required for large/complex installations.

**Required education, skills and experience**:
**Essential**
- Relevant qualification to perform Type B/Class B Gas Installations
- Substantial experience in Commercial and Industrial Gas Fitting as well as relevant Australian Standards
- Well-developed communication skills including the ability to influence and build and maintain networks with a range of stakeholders.
- Experience in or a willingness to develop skills in investigation and report writing

**Desirable (but not required)**
- Building & Energy Designation as a Gas Inspector (WA)
- Certificate IV Government Investigations
