Kitchen Garden Specialist

Do you appreciate the wonder of growing and cooking your own food? Do you have a passion to see children inspired to do the same? Sunrise Christian School Morphett Vale is looking to expand our kitchen garden programme. We need someone with enthusiasm, great relationship skills, a heart for kids and a love of gardening and food to help us take things to the next level. A newly developed garden along with an established kitchen classroom will be your “office”. You will engage volunteers, teachers and students to bring learning alive in hands on gardening and cooking experiences. As a result of your work you will see kids developing essential life skills while also having practical experiences to support the curriculum. You will be part of a small, hard working, dedicated team educating the hearts and minds of the next generation with a Biblical understanding of the world around them. **The position**

The Kitchen Garden Specialist has overall responsibility for planning and maintaining the garden and the kitchen classroom. This also includes planning and conducting garden sessions and cooking sessions, supervised by a teacher, in which students use the ingredients they’ve grown to cook healthy food.

The Kitchen Garden Specialist will have a desire to make a difference to the health and wellbeing of primary school children, and have an appreciation and empathy with the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation mission and values.

This position is for 10 hours per week during school term weeks only.

We are looking for committed Christians who are active in church fellowship to join our vibrant Christian community.

It is expected that applicants will:

- Be committed to Christ and able to demonstrate active church involvement
- Have previous experience in a similar role
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Provide a satisfactory Working With Children Check or be willing to obtain one
