The Payroll Officer is responsible for coordinating the activities of the payroll team, managing the relationship with the outsourced payroll provider, accurate and timely payroll processing functions, reporting, analysis, internal and external reporting obligations.
The payroll Manager is also responsible for establishing and implementing payroll policies and preparing payroll related reconciliations. This position addresses tight deadlines and incorporates technical knowledge of legislative requirements concerning employee entitlements.
**What You Will Do**
**Responsibilities include, however not limited to**:
**Coordination of activities of payroll staff**
- Coordinate routine and non-routine payroll activities with the team
- Provide training and advice to payroll staff
- Monitoring status of work functions to ensure deadlines are met
**Payroll Processing**
- Ensuring employee master data maintenance is initiated on an accurate and timely basis
- Calculate and initiate non-standard payroll transactions and ensure they are processed on a timely and accurate basis
- Validation of data processing by 3rd party provider
- Ensure payroll remittance is uploaded for release by the due date
- Maintain Manager hierarchies in employee self service
- Resolving payroll discrepancies
- Respond to employee enquiries
- Initiate month end payroll related general ledger journals
- Perform Super Cap calculations as required
- Initiate the set-up of non-routine leave entitlements e.g. Reward days, Purchased Leave and Company day
- Provide payroll related advice to the business
**Payroll Reporting**
- Provision of monthly or ad-hoc reports and queries for HR, Finance, or other areas of the business
- Provide information as required for external parties e.g. Government, Super funds etc
- Provision of information in support of monthly and annual payroll tax returns
- Performing payroll related general ledger reconciliations e.g. clearing accounts and novated lease reconciliation
- Other ad-hoc reporting functions assigned by the Manager
**Procedures**
- Establish, review and implement Payroll Policies and procedures
- Interpret payroll procedures in producing payroll
**Audit**
- Provision of information to support internal or external audit functions
- Perform walkthrough of processes and controls with auditors
**What You Must have**
- Prior experience in payroll
- Demonstrated leadership experience
- Demonstrated experience with ADP an advantage
- Excel skills (minimum intermediate level )
- Ability to handle confidential information
- Ability to work across functional teams
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proactive and self-motivated
- Flexibility
