**About the Opportunity**

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Technical Assistant (Haematology) to work as part of a highly supportive and dynamic team. This role will be responsible for assisting with processing of laboratory specimens in keeping with established department protocols, ensuring timely, accurate and complete results with emphasis on prioritising urgent and time critical specimens.

**Duties**:

- Receive and prepare specimens for analysis according to laboratory protocols and procedures;
- Perform routine laboratory analysis following documented methods and established priorities;
- Perform as required equipment maintenance/calibrations as per documented protocols;
- Running QC and take appropriate actions as per documented protocols;
- General laboratory housekeeping;
- Stock rotation; and
- Verification of results, if applicable.

**Applicants should possess the following**:

- Practical and relevant experience working in a diagnostic laboratory environment;
- Sound knowledge and experience in use of laboratory equipment and an understanding of NATA accreditation requirements;
- Good attention to detail and time management skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of computer systems and basic keyboard skills.
- Ability to work as part of a dynamic team.
- Flow Cytometry experience would be an advantage;
- Current South Australian Drivers Licence; and
- Evidence of COVID 19 vaccination (2 doses).
