Brisbane, Australia Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs Full time

**The Principal Advisor has the following key responsibilities**:

- Oversee, coordinate and monitor the daily prioritisation process and assist the youth detention centres in the coordination of admissions.
- Liaise and consult with internal and external stakeholders about a range of complex matters impacting young people in watchhouses, including urgent risks associated with individual young people, youth detention and/or watchhouse capacity issues, operational and transport considerations.
- Lead, coordinate, plan, implement and monitor major projects within compressed timeframes to achieve desired outcomes.
- Provide high level expert advice, correspondence, briefs and reports and support a range of internal and external stakeholders in relation to queries about young people in watchhouses and associated processes.
- Lead the development of operational and practice support solutions, including inter-agency agreements, policies, procedures and capacity building for internal and external stakeholders.
- Represent and negotiate on behalf of the team in internal and external working groups to influence and develop solutions, presenting complex information and advice for service delivery consideration.
- Work within a team environment as a team leader, to coordinate the activities of team members and contribute to the accountable and equitable work environment as delegated by the Manager. Ad
- Demonstrate cultural capability and communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and understand the cultures and issues which impact them in today's society.
