**The Role**
The Assistant Director will carry out various duties in line with established priorities, principles, and work practices, with a focus on:
- Staff delegation and mentoring.
- Prepositioning of US materiel: Organising and overseeing the strategic placement of US military assets within Australia.
- Developing high-quality materials such as Decision Briefs, Industry Studies, and presentations for internal ADF governance forums and senior leadership.
- Collaboration with relevant stakeholders to facilitate amendments and development of policies, processes, and international logistics arrangements related to the CoLSME program.
- Staff support: Providing assistance to DILP, DCJLOG, and CJLOG in their bilateral meetings with US counterparts.
- Training and knowledge transfer: Leading workshops and creating training materials to facilitate the exchange of CoLSME tools and artifacts among relevant teams and stakeholders.
- Program management: Overseeing and executing program management actions as required.
These responsibilities ensure the successful execution of CoLSME operations while fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
**About our Team**
Commander Joint Logistics (CJLOG) international engagement responsibilities are executed through the Directorate of International Logistics Partnerships (DILP). The Combined Logistics Sustainment and Maintenance Enterprise (CoLSME) is part of this Directorate.
CoLSME, introduced as a new initiative at the Australia-United States Ministerial Consultations in 2021, aims to strengthen cooperation between the two nations to ensure a secure and stable Indo-Pacific region. This initiative supports high-end warfighting and combined military operations through enhancing interoperability of capabilities, overcoming logístical challenges, and promoting effective networks of Defence infrastructure.
CoLSME also focuses on maintaining fit-for-purpose capability, thereby fostering a robust and reliable Defence partnership. Plans are underway to achieve these objectives, including logístical support for tactical operations such as Marine Force Rotations in Darwin and prepositioning of United States Army materiel for training and exercises.
