Housing - in particular affordable housing - is one of the biggest issues facing Australian communities. Like all crises of this nature, it plays out differently in different places, and requires a nuanced local response. Our mission is to help local governments understand the nature of the housing challenges and opportunities in their LGA, and inform their housing policies and strategies.
We are looking for an experienced consultant to help us deliver on this mission.
**About us**:
With more than 25 years’ experience using demographic, economic and social research data to tell stories of places and communities.id is Australia’s leading provider of tools, consulting services and support to the local government sector and wider industries. We are passionate about what we do and who we do it with.
The Demographics and Housing team works with local governments around the country, supporting their decision-making with sound local evidence, through our web tools and consulting. Our cross-functional team includes demographic, Census and housing experts who work direct with our clients, plus software and database developers.
**About the role**:
This is a full-time 12-month maternity leave role, with the potential for permanent employment.
As a Housing Consultant at.id (informed decisions), you will be an authority in the Australian housing space with a desire to influence positive housing outcomes. You will play a key role in developing, promoting, selling and delivering our housing offers to the Australian local government. These include our housing and demographic consulting, and housing monitor tool (housing.id).
In addition to promoting and selling housing.id, you will play a critical role in the ongoing development of the tool based on your own expertise, user feedback and emerging opportunities. In short, ensuring the tool continues to meet our clients’ needs and genuinely support excellent local housing decisions. You will also support and champion the use of housing.id with clients, including training and ad-hoc support, helping front-line Council staff advocate for sound decisions.
In the consulting space, you will work on demographic and housing consulting pieces and identify new opportunities, in cooperation with our lead consultant.
The role is based in Melbourne; we work with councils across Australia, and the role includes some travel.
**housing monitor (housing.id)**:
The housing monitor (housing.id) is one of the newer tools in our suite of local government online information tools. It is an online evidence base created to help local government influence and advocate for their community’s housing needs, and monitor progress toward strategic planning goals.
