Mobility & Insights is a Division within the Department of Transport and Planning, and is responsible for the delivery of better outcomes for users of the transport system through developing and coordinating customer and transport system insights, strategy, and innovation.

**About the Role**

Based in the Transport Insights team, and working closely with the Network Operations teams, this position will support the development of safety performance related insights through analysis of data sources such as public transport safety incidents, employee safety reports and road fatality data. The role will ensure that key insights are shared within the business using reporting tools such as Power BI, and through the development of relationships with key stakeholders.

The position requires a clear, analytical mind, inquisitive nature, and a strong desire to improve the safety of our customers and staff.

An ability to analyse, interpret and highlight complex information using technical tools such as Excel, SQL Server or Databricks will be highly regarded.

On a personal level you will be able to cooperate and work well with others in pursuit of team goals; share information and acknowledge others' efforts; step in to help others where required.

**Please note this interview may be conducted in two parts, the interview, and a small practical assessment**

**Position Outcomes**
- Develop Power BI reports to provide internal stakeholders with the ability to self-serve for data requests, and quickly identify trends in data.
- Develop analytical insights which may be used by internal stakeholders to improve the safety of our customers and staff.
- Assist with the management and processing of source data.
- Respond to and assist with reporting requests across DTP.

**Qualifications and Experience**

**Desirable**
- Experience using Power BI to analyse and visualise data.
- An undergraduate qualification in an area such as Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Technology, or a related field.
