Located on Gadigal and Bidjigal land (Randwick NSW), Black Dog Institute is the only Medical Research Institute in Australia to investigate mental health across the lifespan, our aim is to create a mentally healthier world for everyone. For the past 20 years, we have been at the forefront of mental health research. The Role
The Strategic Partnerships Manager plays a key role in the acquisition, development and implementation of BDI’s strategic partnerships. Strategic partnerships are an essential component of BDI’s FY22-27 strategy which seeks to centralise partnerships, providing a collaborative, 360 degree view and customer centric approach. Leading and working as part of a team, this role is responsible for the development and delivery of a cohesive partnership offering for aligned external strategic organisations seeking to meaningfully engage with the Black Dog Institute.
Duties & Responsibilties
- New Business and Account Management
- Actively manage and coordinate a range of BDI’s centralised strategic partnerships.
- Provide expert, strategic advice, guidance and support for directorate owned strategic partnerships.
- Collaborate with the Partnerships new business team to identify and secure strategic partners that align and support BDI’s FY22-27 strategy.
- In collaboration with the Strategic Partnerships Coordinator, oversee securing and developing up to 10 major sporting or community partnerships.
- Encourage strategic partners to take part in BDI’s signature fundraising events including One Foot Forward and Mullets for Mental Health and if required, collaborate with the Corporate Partnerships team to organise bespoke fundraising activities.
- Manage the negotiation, development and implementation of all relevant partnership agreements and documentation, including Memoranda of Understanding (MOU's) and Service Level Agreements (SLA's), to ensure all parties have a clear understanding of the partnership’s terms and deliverables.
- Develop individual, formalised partnership plans for each Directorate owned and Partnerships owned strategic partner.
- Pursue networking opportunities through attendance at events and conferences.
- Lead a small team of strategic partnership specialists (1 direct report).
Skills & Experience Required
1. A relevant tertiary qualification in Marketing or similar, and/or 5+ years’ experience in senior partnership and account management.
2. Ability to understand the needs, interests and objectives of external organisations seeking to create strategic and mutually beneficial partnerships.
3. Proven track record in attracting and retaining strategic partnerships.
4. Experience in developing cultivation and solicitation strategies to ensure ongoing partner engagement.
5. Highly polished oral and written communications skills, including public speaking and presenting with superb interpersonal skills and a proven ability to build rapport quickly to develop genuine long-term relationships with middle to senior management, as well as Board members
Desirable
1. A mix of Coporate and NFP experience is highly desirable
