**Key Responsibilities**

This is a clinical and research-based role. The Fellow will be actively involved in clinical trials, participate in all relevant clinical trial unit meetings and activities, and undertake independent research under the supervision of an experienced mentor. The Oncology unit has a well-established, busy, and dynamic clinical trials unit involved in multiple clinical trials, including early-phase studies. The department also maintains collaborative research relationships with metropolitan hospitals, including the Austin Hospital and other regional institutions.- Clinical responsibilities include participation in oncology clinics four days per week, including fortnightly outreach clinics to Horsham or Stawell. The Fellow will participate in breast, upper gastrointestinal, colorectal, urological, thoracic, neuro-oncology, head and neck, gynaecological, skin cancer and inpatient multidisciplinary team meetings and is expected to attend consultant ward rounds two to three times a week. The fellow will participate in the after-hours on-call and weekend oncology ward rounds roster, an integral component of the comprehensive training experience. Academic responsibilities include participation in regular Journal Club sessions, Mortality and Morbidity meetings, and junior doctor teaching programmes. The Fellow will have protected time to attend the weekly Victorian Medical Oncology Training Group education series in Melbourne. The Fellow will have the opportunity to gain valuable teaching experience by being involved in undergraduate medical student teaching from the University of Melbourne and Deakin University

**About Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer Centre (BRICC)**
- BRICC is a state-of-the-art regional cancer centre that opened in 2013, offering comprehensive oncology services including outpatient chemotherapy, at-home care, inpatient oncology, radiotherapy with two linear accelerators, and a growing clinical trials unit. The centre is supported by a wide range of allied health services such as oncology nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy, dietetics, occupational therapy, and social work.
- Radiotherapy is delivered on-site through the Ballarat-Austin Radiation Oncology Centre (BAROC), a partnership between Austin Health and Grampians Health Ballarat. BRICC works closely with the Gandarra Palliative Care Facility.
- Serving a population of over 350,000 across the Grampians region, BRICC operates within a multidisciplinary framework and provides outreach services to Wimmera, Stawell, and Maryborough. It is part of Grampians Health, which delivers integrated healthcare across western Victoria.
- Ballarat Base Hospital, the main referral centre, is currently undergoing major redevelopment to expand and modernise its facilities.
