Strategy and Corporate Development Analyst

**The role**:
The **Strategy & Corporate Development **Analyst **provides key input into the strategic planning processes of IDP and supports the business on the analysis and execution of inorganic growth opportunities.

A **Full-time Permanent** opportunity based out of our Corporate Headquarters, Melbourne.

A critical position within the Strategy and Corporate Development team covering key areas below, with certain aspects having greater emphasis throughout the year depending on company priorities, deal flow, Board/Leadership meeting cadence and ASX reporting timelines.

**Insights**
- Conduct research to gain a thorough understanding of industry dynamics and stay current with emerging trends
- Monitor and report on competitor activities and deal flow

**Strategy**
- Support the analysis of strategic opportunities and provide recommendations to inform Global Leadership Team (GLT) and Board decision-making
- Play a role in the strategic development process including the 5-year plan and annual Board strategy review

**Corporate Development**
- Assess and respond to inbound opportunities as well as proactively identifying and building relationships with companies for acquisitions and partnerships aligned to customer needs, strategic initiatives and long-term strategy
- Support the execution of potential M&A transactions, including leading key work streams such as financial analysis, valuations, due diligence, documentation and preparation of Board papers
- Provide post-merger integration support for acquired business as needed

**Financial Analysis and Modelling**
- Leverage data to assess business performance and use insights to formulate strategy and plans with senior leaders
- Provide financial modelling, business case and budgeting support to the S&CD team (and other units from time to time)
- Undertake detailed financial analysis and synthesize findings for key decision-makers

**And**
- _Support the IR function:_ Update broker consensus and prepare presentations and other materials used to brief investors on performance and group strategy
- _Support the IELTS function:_ Provide Board reporting and ad hoc commercial analysis support for the IELTS business unit

**WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR**
- Tertiary qualified. Business, commerce and economics degrees likely to be most applicable but other disciplines considered.
- 3-4 years’ experience in strategy, corporate development, management consulting, professional services, venture capital or private equity
- Demonstrated capacity for creativity, strategic thinking, problem analysis and development of business cases
- Experience in producing:

- detailed 3-way (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow) financial models
- valuation analysis including discounted cash flows
- high-quality presentations, board papers, reports and other bespoke analytics to support decision-making
- Able to extract and synthesize relevant information
- Excellent written communication skills in the areas of documentation and report writing
- High level oral communication skills with demonstrated capacity to listen and check understanding
- Able to operate effectively and deliver in a project environment
- Unquestioned integrity and proven record of outstanding professional ethics
- Able to work cooperatively and collegially within a team environment
- Very good interpersonal skills to engage effectively at senior and operational levels internally
