Your new job
The Peer Researcher will primarily work on the ‘Trauma-Informed Peer Work’ project within the Trauma Research team. You will support the development of the research methodology and recruit participants to the project, also acting as a lived experience advocate within the research team.
Reporting to the Project Lead in Trauma and Youth Mental Health you will:
- Lead or co-produce research outputs (e.g., abstracts, journal articles); assist with related projects within the Trauma and Youth Mental Health team.
- Use lived experience to recruit and support young people in participation activities.
- Advocate for youth, lived/living experience perspectives within the team; assist with youth participation and engagement activities.
What you’ll need
You are passionate, energetic and determined to make a difference to health and wellbeing outcomes for young people. The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:
- Aged between 18 and 30 years for the duration of their employment term.
- Personal lived experience of trauma or mental health challenges and identifies as belonging to another historically marginalized or disadvantaged group.
- Capacity to problem solve effectively, engage with and work creatively in partnership with young people.
- Experience or willingness to undertake research related tasks (e.g., qualitative data collection, analysis)
- Knowledge of the youth mental health system and support services for young people and experience in youth mental health and/or trauma advocacy
