
Assistant Whs Prosecutor

**The Assistant Work Health and Safety Prosecutor (WHSP) will**:
- Appear as leading counsel in summary and superior court criminal trials and appeals throughout Queensland;
- Act in accordance with the Work Health and Safety Prosecutor's Guidelines and the Director of Public Prosecution's Guidelines;
- Exercise discretion (where delegated) to initiate, vary and discontinue work health and safety prosecutions;
- Review and enhance lawyers' recommendations to the WHSP in a timely manner;
- Act as an expert source of advice to the WHSP and prosecutions staff on complex and sensitive prosecution related matters;
- Manage the performance and workflow of a group of lawyers with varying degrees of experience to ensure high quality delivery of prosecution services within a framework of continuous improvement and in order to meet KPIs;
- Provide professional mentoring for legal staff with a focus on improving their professional capability and empowering them in their decision making;
- Monitor the health and wellbeing of staff, and make time for staff despite competing priorities;
- Represent the OWHSP and cultivate productive stakeholder relationships;
- Contribute to improving systems and work practices.
