About the role

We’re seeking a Communications and Engagement Lead to be responsible for leading the development and implementation of key community relations, stakeholder engagement and communications activities associated with Transurban’s projects, maintenance activities and other key initiatives in Queensland.

You’ll join a fast-paced, innovative team, who assist with localised communications strategies on strategic campaigns and projects related to development, road safety, customer value and community legacy.

Day-to-day, you will:
- Lead the development and delivery of stakeholder and community engagement strategies and communications for projects, operations and maintenance activities to ensure they meet our community engagement standards.- Ensure any project/maintenance/operational community impacts are proactively identified and work with internal stakeholders and construction contractors to mitigate and minimise impacts.- Develop and implement plans, strategies and calendars outlining future communications activities and media opportunities on projects/maintenance/operational activities as well as reporting on the outcomes of these activities- Actively promote project/maintenance/operational milestones and initiatives to internal and external stakeholders using appropriate channels including online, social media, advertising, media relations, community relations and employee engagement- Work with the Project Delivery, Maintenance, Assets, Operations and Qld Public Affairs team to identify and plan for potential stakeholder/community issues and/or risks- Participate in the Public Affairs communications 24/7 on-call roster to deal with community and stakeholder issues out of hours- Lead the coordination, development and delivery of communications plans and strategies for all planned road works, road closures and on-road events ensuring they are communicated appropriately to customers through web, social media, stakeholder engagement and advertising- Liaise closely with other road authorities to understand any broader network impacts on Brisbane toll road users

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferable skills and experiences, including:
- Proven experience in community relations, corporate communications, or public relations, ideally within major infrastructure project, utility, government, resource or consulting environment/industries- Demonstrated ability to lead the development and implementation of roadworks and project communications and community engagement strategies- Demonstrated ability to identify emerging community, media and stakeholder issues and reputational risks and provide strategic advice to key personnel, as well as develop strategies to effectively manage risk- Excellent project management, time management and analytical skills to ensure community is considered in decision making and demonstrated ability to develop and deliver communications strategies to support business objectives, using a broad range of channels, including digital- Excellent written and verbal communication, public presentation and interpersonal skills- Tertiary qualification in Journalism, Communications and/or Public Relations preferred- Hold IAP2 certificate and valid QLD driver’s licence and car to drive to sites and meetings with external stakeholders- Hold or be able to obtain a Construction White Card (or equivalent Blue Card)
