About The Role
As a senior executive leader, the Executive Director is responsible for establishing and driving an integrated communication strategy that supports the department's vision and objectives.
The Executive Director, Strategic Communication and Engagement provides high level leadership in shaping and delivering the department's communication, media, and engagement strategies. The role oversees media relations, brand management, digital channels, internal communications, and marketing campaigns, while ensuring effective crisis response and stakeholder engagement. It provides authoritative advice to senior leaders and government, manages resources and governance frameworks, and leads a multidisciplinary team to drive innovation, performance, and alignment with organisational priorities.
About You
You will be a highly skilled, dynamic and strategic leader with proven experience in leading communication strategies that align with government priorities. Your ability to thrive in fast-paced, reactive environments is complemented by your experience in successfully leading multidisciplinary teams and navigating complex communication issues during significant events, such as natural disasters. With a focus on fostering collaboration with high level stakeholders, you bring exceptional engagement skills and a commitment to building organisational capability in communication and engagement.
You will also have experience working with organisations that are redefining their brand, and you will have a track record of driving these initiatives through internal teams.
