**The Opportunity**

We have an exciting opportunity available for a Unit Head to join the EPA in our Regulatory Operations division. In this role you will manage the Unit to provide day to day frontline integrated service delivery using regulatory, advisory and other tools to protect the environment. This role is responsible for co-ordinating the delivery of EPA’s support services to various flood recovery programs across the Northern Rivers. The Unit works closely with Councils, other State Agencies, contractors and the community in tailoring environmental support services and ensuring the efficient delivery of flood recovery programs.

**About You**
- Developed and maintained strategic projects, proactive programs and improved compliance with contemporary environmental standards.
- Managed the involvement of staff in assessing breaches of legislation, licence conditions, and other reports of pollution or environmental harm and determine the most appropriate regulatory response to breaches in accordance with the EPA compliance policy.
- Undertake issues management for significant or controversial issues within the geographical or functional area.
- Consult and liaise on a regular basis with management and staff within the Region/Branch to seek expert advice to assist in the regulatory work and other EPA and specialist Branches to discuss the implementation of strategies, audits and campaigns.
- Oversee the drafting, issuing reviewing and issuing of written correspondence issued by the Region.
- Maintain effective financial planning and budgetary controls within delegations within the Unit.

The Operations division is a dedicated team of environmental regulators who work to protect the environment and people from harm through the management of licensed premises and investigation of environmental incidents and complaints. If you are successful in the role, you will be working in a supportive, diverse, results driven team, who work across regional environmental protection matters.
