The Functional Analyst, Student Solutions, will partner with Student customers within the university to provide specialist advice and guidance to ensure the sound and effective functioning of UNSW’s Student enterprise systems at an optimum level. This role will deliver business analysis, functional consulting, functional design and configuration development, and operational support relating to the implementation, support and enhancement of UNSW Student systems. The Functional Analyst provides functional design and configuration services through formal projects and regular BAU work, drawing upon their expertise and experience to deliver analysis and the design and development of solutions that are aligned to meet current and future needs, ensuring they are integrated across the organisation in accordance with established methods and standards. This role reports to the Lead Functional Analyst and has no direct reports.
**Accountabilities**:
- Partner with customers and stakeholders to design and develop solutions to meet business needs and objectives.
- Provide support for SiMs (Student Information Management System - our implementation of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions) and other core Student systems, providing advice and guidance to users on system issues, resolving the more complex enquiries and ensuring satisfaction with UNSW IT services.
- Investigate production problems, including specifying solutions and overseeing their resolution. Where necessary, escalate production problems within UNSW IT and contribute to resolution of such technical issues including the specification and testing of solutions. You may need to be available for “on call” support.
- Identify innovative and new ways of using or enhancing systems that ensures that they are being fully leveraged by the University.
- Work collaboratively with project managers to support projects - including managing scope, impact assessments, risk analysis, testing and coordinating with stakeholders. Plan, perform and participate in system, integration, and performance testing. Support the planning of user acceptance testing, and sign-off on Student and associated systems.
- Assist with the configuration of systems to ensure they operate in line with user needs, maximise PeopleSoft and other products’ delivered functionality and incorporate timely technology advances.
- Ensure the performance and integrity of the UNSW Student systems such that they provide accurate and efficient output which meets the needs of stakeholders across the organisation.
- Liaise with business customers, technical analysts, IT developers and other stakeholders for the development and implementation of Student system changes.
- Focus on and drive process improvements, identifying opportunities for improving business processes through efficient and effective use of Student systems technologies
- Collaborate with users and other customers to gather business requirements, assess business processes, and assist with the design of solutions which effectively deliver desired outcomes.
- Assist with analysis and developing guidelines for regular patch releases, new processes or functionality to ensure customers understand how to best utilise the UNSW's Student systems.
- Manage and maintain successful relationships with the various business process owners and Student Services & Systems teams.
- Keep up to date with emerging technologies, particularly with respect to how they may be used within Higher Education solutions, including through engagement with UNSW’s Innovation Framework

- Ensure hazards and risks psychosocial and physical are identified and controlled for tasks, projects, and activities that pose a health and safety risk within your area of responsibility.
**Skills and Experience**:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience including a minimum of 7 years of experience in IT.
- Demonstrated excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- High-level knowledge and competency in the use of professional business analysis techniques and methods (eg Use Case Analysis, UML).
