**About the role**:
The Design & Drafting Manager is a member of the Fairmont Group Management Team and is accountable for the effective leadership, management, and operational oversight of the design / drafting function.

Specific duties include:

- Oversee and direct the design and drafting team to produce all drawings and plans, while ensuring these meet quality, quantity and time targets
- Forecast and monitor pre-build planning schedules, allocating cost and resources to ensure duration targets are achieved
- Develop and implement strategies to manage costs on each build and achieve costing targets
- Act as a point of contact to resolve design and documentation issues between clients, external service providers, and approval channels
- Develop and implement sustainable systems and processes that support accuracy in design and documentation
- Oversee compliance of plans and builds to ensure they meet the National Construction codes and Australian Standard Codes
- Leading and mentoring a team

**What you will bring**:

- Proven experience in a senior operational role in the housing and construction industry
- Qualifications in building design/ architecture
- Supervisors licence for residential / commercial construction
- Skills in building design and drafting
- Ability to motivate, develop and lead people
- Strong commercial acumen, with experience monitoring and reaching targets and milestones
- Ability to communicate with a diverse range of people to build positive relationships
- An understanding of technology to drive efficiencies and process improvements
- Working knowledge of the building and construction industry, including strong knowledge of the National Construction and Australian standard codes
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
