Our client, an industry leading iron ore producer, is currently seeking a Laboratory Technician to join their team in a brand new Lab based in Perth. The role is a temporary contract within the Science & Technology team, in a friendly and dynamic work environment. If you are a self-motivated, organised and communicative person you may be the right fit to join our team of scientists, engineers, among other professionals, who are working on developing green technologies.
The main responsibilities of the Laboratory Technician role are:
- Maintenance and calibration of analytical equipment to ensure reliability of the results.
- Create an asset register for the laboratory equipment including servicing and maintenance routines, where applicable.
- Update Standard Operating Procedures to include the methods developed for analysing samples from the Research & Development laboratory.
- Laboratory equipment include Panalytical Epsilon4 XRF, Agilent 5800 ICP OES, Panalytical bench top Aeris XRD, Malvern Panalytical 3000 Mastersizer, Metrohm automatic titrator.
- Sample preparation for ICP OES and fused beads for XRF using fusion furnace.
- Housekeeping and maintenance of R&D laboratories for health and safety reasons.

- Immediately report any incident or potential hazard to their supervisor; and
- Correctly utilize any Personal Protective Equipment distributed.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Ability to prioritise, organise and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to work in a demanding environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Has a friendly "can do" attitude
- Exhibits self-motivation and ability to work on own initiative
- Exhibit enthusiasm
- Highly effective team player
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills and other analytical equipment software desired
- Experience in a similar role, in some or all techniques is desired, with a willingness to learn attitude
- Degree in Science related discipline or Diploma in Laboratory Techniques, with skills in analytical chemistry
