**The Principal Advisor Cultural Programs (Identified) will**:

- Monitor and review quality of program delivery for First Nations Australian people, and work with sites to address any issues impacting program or practice effectiveness.
- Plan and deliver facilitation and First Nations Australian specific programs/interventions training to QCS staff.
- Oversee appropriate cultural and clinical governance of all cultural programs/interventions and assessments delivered by QCS to First Nations Australian prisoners and offenders.
- Lead and implement strategies for cultural supervision to improve the cultural safety for QCS staff who engage in the delivery of programs/interventions for First Nations Australian prisoner/offenders.
- Ensure offender program/interventions activities delivered to First Nations Australian prisoners and offenders are consistent with evidence-based and culturally safe practice.
- Ensure program standards, management procedures and guidelines are maintained.
- Identify and contribute to, in consultation with QCS offender development staff, risks arising from offender assessment and management.
- Ensure the safety and security of self and others and the security and confidentiality of QCS property and information.
- Maintain own level of knowledge of contemporary offender programs research and practices, and legislation, policy and procedures in relation to offender management.
- Provide support to First Nations Australian staff involved in program delivery and cultural support and cultural development to non-Indigenous staff to promote their ability to effectively conduct their duties and identify opportunities to support QCS staff in the effective cultural delivery of First Nations Australian programs/interventions.
- Provide advice to relevant QCS staff regarding First Nations Australian prisoner/offender program suitability and/or other intervention activities.
- Ensure maintenance, accuracy and appropriateness of records and intervention reports for appropriate authorities.
- Promote value of First Nations Australian offender programs and effectively collaborate with internal and external professional networks, Elder Groups and Community Justice Groups.
- Collaborate effectively with other Commands in order to achieve strategic outcomes.
- Provide support and high-level advice to the Director and Assistant Commissioner on the development of Command planning processes.
- Represent the Agency in negotiations with other Government Agencies and key agencies as required to ensure the achievement of Government priorities and outcomes.
- Guide consultation with stakeholders to develop policy and implement strategies to progress First Nations Australian issues that will improve QCS/ORMS business services delivery.

There are no mandatory qualifications, professional registration, conditions and other requirements. However, a degree in psychology, education, social work, criminal justice or a related discipline would be highly regarded.
The role is based in Brisbane CBD. However, travel to other QCS locations is a requirement of the role.
