To deliver this mission, our hydrographic and coastal resilience teams conduct accurate and efficient hydrographic surveys for nautical charting, route surveys and bathymetry for coastal zone management using an integrated solution consisting of remote sensing, lidar and acoustic sensor technology.

We are currently seeking a Field Support Electronic Technician to join our established Engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity that will provide first line engineering support to the Survey Operations in Australia & overseas. This includes both marine and land teams. Your role will see time spent deployed to the field as well as based in the office providing remote support.

Based in Fugro’s Adelaide office you will be part of the Technical Service team.

Your role will:

- Provide support to systems comprising of embedded computers, lasers, optics, electronics, mechanics, servos, cameras, inertial navigation systems and interface those systems with appropriate vessels & vehicles (boats, aircraft and trains)
- Conduct maintenance and acceptance testing to ensure systems and components are ready for service whilst tracking the asset management of those components
- Installation and demobilisation of systems into the required vessels & vehicles
- Provide remote support to teams whilst equipment is deployed
- Assist the engineering team with design input and review for ongoing improvements
- Compliance with QHSSE policies, standards and procedures

The role will involve travel to support business activities (intrastate, interstate and international). Weekend and after-hours work will also be required to provide support to the teams whilst deployed.

The role requires the following:

- Diploma in Electronics or Mechatronics (or related relevant courses or experience)
- Previous experience and knowledge in operating and maintaining electromechanical systems
- Be proficient with computers and able to learn the software required for systems operation
- Ability to comprehend electrical and electronic schematic diagrams
- Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings
- Previous mechanical and electronics assembly experience
- Strong fault diagnostic skills
- Ability to work autonomously and under pressure
- Hold work rights for Australia
- Hold or able to obtain a passport
- Ability to travel and be away from home for periods of time
