**What You Will Be Doing**

The Family Violence Intake and Assessment Practitioner is a valued member of the Family Violence Program at Peninsula Health.The role works within the state-funded Safety and Support Hubs, otherwise known as The Orange Door (TOD).
The Family Violence Practitioner works to achieve safety for women and children by sharing information, assessing risk and directly reaching out to AUFV. You will be part of multidisciplinary team of family violence specialists reporting operationally to an Integrated Team Leader and receiving line management from Peninsula Health.
These two position will be based within the Peninsula Health Team across either the Hastings or Frankston Orange Door sites (applicants will be based at one site). Peninsula Health holds the specialist portfolio for people who use violence. The Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management (MARAM) Practice Guides and assessment tools for professionals working with adults who use family violence are utilised to undertake this practice.
Together with your Integrated Team, the role of the Peninsula Health Orange Door Family Violence Intake and Assessment Practitioner is to provide comprehensive risk management and safety planning to clients who access the Orange Door. This is achieved through the delivery of screening and triage, assessment, crisis response and service planning.
The Orange Door brings together different workforces and practices to create an integrated team and a consolidated intake point in each Hub area to provide support for;
- Women, children and young people and families experiencing family violence
- People who use violence
- Families in need of support with the care, development, and well-being of children

This is achieved by drawing on expertise of Public Health and Community Based Organisations (including Peninsula Health) to receive and respond to referrals from:

- Police referrals for women and children who are victims of family violence
- Police referrals for perpetrators of family violence
- Child wellbeing referrals
- Third party organisations
- Clients who can self-refer by contacting The Orange Door directly

The Orange Door have mobilised the service system to work with women, children and families to support their safety and wellbeing. One of the roles of the Hubs is to provide a central point of intake, where referrals are triaged by a team of professional staff representing the Family Violence sector. The Hubs work directly with PUVs onsite, via phone and out-posting at partner organisations. A key function of this role is to assess the risk posed by PUVs and determine the appropriate service provision, with a focus on referrals to family violence prevention programs (Men’s Behaviour Change Program) and other referrals as identified to address psychosocial needs.
**What You Need**

We anticipate you will have:

- Tertiary Qualification in Social Work/Psychology/Social Science or related fields
- Qualifications must align with the Mandatory Minimum Qualification Requirements for Specialist Family Violence Practitioner (Recommendation 209)
- Experience in related fields across the Family Violence Sector
- Demonstrable risk management and safety planning skills and a familiarity with MARAM
- Familiarity with the key underpinning legislation including the Privacy Act, Health Records Act, Children, Youth and Family Act, Family Violence Act
- Demonstrated knowledge of No to Violence principles, standards and practice
- Well developed skills in working with complex clients including defusing, self-management and reflective practice.
- High level verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively in all professional
