**Where you'll be working**

Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra and Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has a bed base of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.

Shoalhaven Hospital is a busy rural hospital which employs over 1,000 staff and is the main acute care hospital for the Shoalhaven region, providing emergency care, medical, surgical and orthopaedic services. Shoalhaven Hospital has an Intensive Care Unit focusing on high dependency and coronary patients, Children’s Ward and Maternity Unit as well as a purpose-built regional Cancer Care Centre and sub-acute Mental Health Unit. Shoalhaven Hospital is currently undergoing a $438 million redevelopment.

**What you'll be doing**

The Advanced Trainee is based within ISLHD Cancer Services, providing outpatient support for people with cancer as part of a multidisciplinary team at both the Illawarra Cancer Care Centre and Shoalhaven Cancer Care Centre facilities. The established full time position will periodically rotate between the Illawarra Cancer Care Centre and the Shoalhaven Cancer Care Centre to ensure continuity of care and equal training and professional development opportunities across the cancer network.

The Advanced Trainee will manage patients with solid and haematological malignancy and should have knowledge of cytotoxic agents and safe handling procedures along with the ability to chart treatment under the supervision of a senior medical officer. The Advanced Trainee will be part of a well-funded, forward thinking and proactive team, dedicated to improving patient outcomes through high quality patient care, and the latest clinical trial research.

The Advanced Trainee is generally required to work Monday-Friday, with no night shifts and weekend oncall / ward rounds are only one in five.
