**Where you'll be working**
Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra and Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has a bed base of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.

**What you'll be doing**

To provide a high standard of clinical care to Infectious Diseases inpatients, outpatients and consultation patients in the context of fulfilling the requirements of the RACP for advanced training in Infectious Diseases.

To fulfil the service requirements of the Department. These may include attendance and participation in multidisciplinary meetings; clinical meetings; journal clubs, supervision and education of junior medical staff and active participation in antibiotic stewardship, infection control and/or ambulatory care programs. Please note that each hospital will have differing service requirements reflecting the individual identity of each institution as well as the different populations (e.g. spinal or burns patients) and sub-specialities (e.g. hepatitis or HIV) accommodated at each of the different hospitals.

The Advanced Trainee is also expected to be involved in Clinical management of Outpatient Clinics including Immunology/Infectious Disease, HIV and Sexual Health Clinics. All consultations to be entered into the database in the Department weekly. The position is also accredited for advanced training in Immunology by the RACP.
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary clinical team - diligence, punctuality, organisation, record keeping, time management, problem solving skills, team work
- Demonstrated Commitment to ongoing Advanced Training education, research and teaching
- Commitment to continuous quality improvement
- Completion of at least four postgraduate years and successful completion of the examination requirements of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, or equivalent, and be eligible to undertake subspecialty training in infectious diseases and/or microbiology in Australia; OR completion of at least four postgraduate years and eligible to sit the Divisional Clinical Exam (DCE) in 2020, but were unable to due to COVID-19. In these circumstances, the College advises that you may provisionally progress to Advanced Training in the 2021 clinical year.
