The Families and Young People team at Mercy Community currently have a vacancy for a Family and Community Support Worker in Lowood. This is a Permanent Part-time position offering 30 hours a fortnight, on Thursday and Friday.

This role is responsible for quality service delivery to children, young people, families and the community through the Lowood Hub and Services Australia Agent Service. This position will provide support to individuals and families accessing the Hub, facilitate group and community engagement events and promote positive stakeholder relationships. The service operates in accordance with the service agreements and program guidelines prescribed by the funding bodies, as well as Mercy Community, mission, values, policy and procedure.

**To be eligible for this position you will require (Key Selection Criteria)**:

- Relevant qualifications (certificate or higher); and demonstrated experience in working with children and/or families.
- An understanding of the challenges faced by families in the Lowood Community, with the ability to engage family members in a respectful manner.
- Sound understanding and knowledge of the Queensland child protection system and community engagement strategies.
- Excellent communication skills to develop and maintain effective relationships, including strategies for negotiating strong differences of opinion with service users, families, other multi-disciplinary professionals and funding bodies to create maximum positive outcomes for clients.
- Evidence of current vaccination against Whooping Cough or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
- A Queensland Provisional Green or Open Driver’s Licence and the ability to obtain positive notice in the Working with Children Check (Blue Card), positive Police Check and any other legislatively required personal history screening as required

This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $30.46 to $35.77 plus superannuation in line with level 2 to 3 (pay point will vary depending on qualifications and experience) along with other benefits.
