As the Head of Payments, you will be responsible for defining and developing key elements of retail banking payments strategy for HSBC in Australia. You will focus on the broader evolving payments ecosystem, and develop and implement initiatives across all segments and channels to address retail customers’ emerging needs. Specifically, the role will have a particular responsibility for shaping the customer proposition and experience for HSBC’s deployment of the payments to retail customers.

The role has 2 direct reports responsible for Scheme Compliance and Payments projects.

**Your main responsibilities will include**:

- **Strategy**: The role will lead the payments lifecycle service experience end to end with a focus on consumer payment propositions - card tokenization, digital wallets and mobile wallets. Have oversight of schemes and BPAY and other payment relationships (eftpos) to ensure strong commercial outcomes
- **Proposition development**: Partner with Product, channels, customer insight and experience, analytics and technology teams to identify opportunities to enhance our customers’ payment options in line with the strategy
- **Product deployment**: Implement new payment products and options for our consumer customers. This includes, owning the business requirements, determining the operating framework, defining the positioning and commercialising the opportunities presented by payment initiatives
- **Project delivery**: Act as the WPB lead on key payment related projects by consulting and engaging with stakeholders across HSBC
- **Customer experience**: Continually review and enhance key customer payment journeys to deliver seamless and frictionless digital payment experiences
- **Regulatory awareness**: A solid understanding of the changing regulatory payment environment within Australia and initiation of action where required for HSBC to adapt to these changes
- **Commercialisation**: Identify and deliver the commercial benefits presented by the growth in payment options offered to our customers
- **Product Management**: Ensure that our Payment platforms, including NPP, perform as expected and remain compliant. This will involve monitoring the relevant platforms, tracking upcoming changes as well as supporting the resolution of any issues, as well as working closely with our internal Fraud teams to develop robust payment solutions **Some career choices have more impact than others.**
