**Contribute to the professional and effective operation of a quality Eye Bank service**

The Eye Bank Coordinator contributes to the professional and effective operation of a quality Eye Bank service that complies with the Therapeutic Goods Administration Practice and legislation and supports the provision of a competent, reliable, efficient and high quality medical science based service that meets the Eye Bank accreditation standards.

**About the role**:
Reporting to the Eye Bank State Manager, as the Eye Bank Coordinator you will provide an effective coordination role for the care of **donor** families/clients during the eye donation consent and retrieval process.

Duties for the role will include:

- Liaise with clinical staff to provide timely and accurate information relating to the availability and suitability of donor sclera and corneas, including completing documentation in accordance with the relevant policies and procedures,
- Coordinate and organise workloads to ensure the ongoing effective care of Eye Bank families and clients,
- Interpret and support unit philosophy, objectives, policies and standards,
- Participate in quality assurance and/or evaluative research activities within a professional practice setting.

**About you**:

- Proven ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with individuals and groups, including liaising in a sensitive and empathetic manner with families and/or caregivers in times of bereavement, handling conflict and resolving difficult issues associated with organ and tissue donation,
- Ability to be creative, innovative and flexible when approaching scientific or operational issues within a healthcare setting, and organise workloads to meet imposed deadlines,
- Experience in working in areas where confidentiality must be applied and maintained.
- **(RN2) -**:

- Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate,
- Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 3 years, full time equivalent, post registration experience.
- **(MeS2) -**:

- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent.
