Building and Defect Technician

The Building and Defect Technician supports the construction managers by supervising and inspecting construction works, assessing time, costs and managing resources.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Supervise and inspect construction works, assess time, costs and manage human resources.
- Interpret architectural drawings, specifications and building regulations.
- Inspect work and materials to ensure compliance with regulations, specifications and standards.
- Recognise defect work, propose and initiate remedial procedures.
- Liaise and manage communications with developer clients, property owners/tenants, owner corporation representatives and subcontractors.
- Operate and implement co-ordinated work programs.
- Manage post build defect identification through to complete resolution.

**Skills and experience**:

- At minimum a Diploma in Construction Management or Architecture.
- Experience in interpreting architectural drawings, specifications and building regulations; with extensive experience in assisting Construction Managers, Architects and Surveyors in planning, organising and resourcing.
- Proven track record in professionally liaising and managing communications with property developer clients, building/property owners and tenants, owner's corporation representatives and subcontractors.
- At least 3+ years of experience in the operation and implementation of co-ordinated work programs, including experience in managing post build defect identification through to complete resolution.
- At least 3+ years of experience in co-ordinating and managing labour resources, the procurement and delivery of materials, plant and equipment, including calculating costs and estimating time.
