Building Inspector (Casual)

Apex Building Inspections Sydney, NSW

Flexible workload, up to 10 inspections per week depending on availability

We are seeking an experienced Building Inspector to carry out residential property inspections across Sydney. This will suit someone who has previously completed inspections either independently or under a franchise arrangement and is looking for a reliable, ongoing source of inspection work, or to add to their current pipeline without needing to generate new clients.

Alternatively, looking to have higher cashflow as compared to construction or other projects.

You will complete structured condition assessments, identify visible defects, confirm compliance items such as smoke alarms where required, and submit a clear digital report. This is a field-based role that offers autonomy, flexibility and consistent workflow.

About the Work

  • Attend residential inspection bookings in your assigned area
  • Assess internal and external building elements and identify visible defects
  • Confirm and record compliance and safety observations
  • Take photos and complete a mobile inspection report
  • Communicate respectfully with occupants and present professionally
  • Accept jobs based on the days and hours you prefer to work

Backgrounds That Fit Well

This role is generally well suited to people with experience such as:

  • Previous building inspection experience (independent or franchise)
  • Certificate III or IV in Building or Construction
  • NSW Builders Licence or relevant Tradesperson Licence
  • Former site supervisors, building consultants, assessors or maintenance coordinators
  • Trades with strong practical building knowledge who understand common defect patterns

If you have completed PAS, PCI, pre-purchase inspections, maintenance assessments or similar work, that experience aligns closely.

Requirements

  • Experience completing building inspections is essential
  • Current driver's licence and reliable vehicle
  • ABN or willingness to obtain one
  • Capable of using mobile or web-based reporting tools
  • Strong time management and communication skills
