**Why Your Role Matters**:
The portfolio of External Engagement is responsible for connecting the University with core stakeholders including philanthropists, alumni, government, volunteers, the media and the broader community. It is made up of six collaborative and high performing teams: Strategic Communications, Development, Centre for Ideas, News and Content, External Engagement and Operations.
The Operations Manager plays an integral role within the Division of External Engagement in providing dedicated and strategic operational support to the Director of Operations and other key stakeholders. The role contributes significantly to strategic and operational projects across the Division, supporting the delivery of strategic goals. This role reports to the Director of Operations, and has two direct reports.
**Responsibilities:

- Responsible for supporting the Director of Operations (DoD) and VP External Engagement operationalise the DEE strategic plan.
- Deliver quality advice and information to the Director of Operations and External Engagement Management Team on business strategy development and governance, policy, processes and services.
- Identify innovative opportunities to improve DEE’s performance and ensure implementation strategies are developed and effectively delivered to promote a high
- performance team culture.
- Manage multiple DEE and individual initiatives/projects including project planning and execution, monitoring, quality management, benefits realisation, and in conjunction with the Divisional FBP budgeting, forecasting and all associated reporting.
- In conjunction with the HR Business Partnering team, develop and implement the annual People and Culture plan and workforce planning strategies in line with the University and DEE objectives.
- Responsible for effective resource planning and management in all areas of responsibility, in alignment with strategy, aiming to build long term capacity.
- Ensure the substantial governance, compliance and risk management requirements in all areas of activity are met across DEE and review of DEE Business Continuity plans in accordance with UNSW guidelines.
- Maintain a sound and current knowledge of industry practices and trends, leveraging of partnerships across UNSW, the tertiary education sector and other external partners to ensure best advice is provided.
- Work with the DoD to contribute to the development of a coherent team and structure, encouraging cross functional and cross unit collaboration.
- Build and maintain excellent working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and agencies to enable progression of estate strategic and development matters.
- Coordinate and/or develop documentation e.g. presentations, board papers, business unit papers for DoD and VP as required.
**Who You Are**:
- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
- Proven skills and experience in strategic and resource planning within the higher education, goal setting and project management.
- Demonstrated success designing and delivering strategies, programs and initiatives.
- Ability to lead, motivate and train team members, to establish priorities and manage competing deadlines for self and others.
- Excellent consultation, influencing and negotiation skills and proven ability to engage effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
- High level organisational skills with proven ability to deal with multiple tasks, establish priorities and meet deadlines.
