**The position**:
RES Australia is a wholly owned subsidiary of RES Group, the world’s largest independent renewable energy company with a 23GW global portfolio of wind, solar and storage assets. Active in Australia since 2004, with offices in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney, our business is focused in 4 areas: wind, solar and storage development and construction/asset management. Over the last 4 years, the Australian renewables market has expanded rapidly, and the RES team has grown to over 140 staff.

Reporting into the Commercial Analysis Manager, the Commercial Analyst will help ensure the business cases for investment opportunities are consistent, accurate and based on an informed risk profile. In terms of scope, the work will focus on our established business streams of onshore wind, utility-scale PV, and large-scale battery storage.

The Commercial Analyst will pro-actively manage assigned tasks, support strategic analysis, draw key insights and effectively communicate any findings to enable sound financial decision making. You will be capable of juggling multiple tasks and competing priorities, whilst remaining focused on the details and finding creative ways to tackle big picture challenges.

Main responsibilities and accountabilities:

Key activities and Outputs

Commercial
- Provide strategic, financial and commercial analysis to support the valuation of RES projects.
- Utilise financial/commercial models for the valuation of RES projects.
- Provide strategic and commercial support to the business cases being put in front of the business’ approval committees.

Business Development
- By providing commercial and strategic analysis, contribute in the response to any requests for proposals/bids/tenders.

Strategic Planning
- Support the development of business plans and key initiatives to manage financial and non-financial opportunities and risks within the business.
- Support the Business Planning process to ensure robust business performance management and planning.
- Ensure business case for existing business streams and route to market priorities are consistent, accurate and decisions on investment are made on the best information via a co-ordinated set of metrics, assumptions and outputs.

Health and Safety
- Champion the pursuit of excellence in health and safety compliance across the business and with external stakeholders.
- Act as an exemplary role model to encourage the avoidance of risk-taking behaviours across the business and provide the personal commitment never to "risk it".

Education and Experience
- Undergraduate and/or graduate level degree in Economics, Finance, or Commerce.
- Accounting professional qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CFA) either completed, or in progress would be well regarded, but not essential.
- Ideal role for tertiary education graduates. No previous professional experience essential.

Business Capabilities and Skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for financial modelling.
- Ability to demonstrate financial modelling skills, valuation metrics and methodologies.
- Good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word skills would be well regarded, but not essential.
