As part of the new Operating Model, we are looking for a **Head of Underwriting Performance** to join our **Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane** office.

This leadership role is responsible for driving operational excellence, business improvement and governance within the Underwriting function. This role oversees project management, underwriting audits and risk management while supporting learning and development initiatives.

**Key responsibilities***:

- Operational Excellence and Business Improvement
- Project Management
- Underwriting Audit and Governance
- Insurance Risk/Risk Event Reporting and Monitoring
- Underwriting Capability Uplift
- Reinsurance placement and Administration Support
- Technical Solutions Forum coordination and representation

**Knowledge, skills and experience***:

- Knowledge of Property, Package, Casualty and Financial Lines products and exposures
- Experience of effective stakeholder management within a commercial environment (including both internal and external stakeholders)
- Experience in business / performance report writing
- Experience in data analysis and management information (MI) reporting and interpretation
- Experience in designing and managing a Quality Assurance Program, Peer Review and Governance frameworks
- Proven experience in a leadership role with a focus on Performance, preferably within the insurance industry
- Proven experience in improving underwriting processes, to enhance efficiency and business performance
- Ability to lead and oversee projects, ensuring successful implementation of underwriting improvements
- Knowledge of underwriting audits, regulatory requirement and risk management
- Knowledge of underwriting governance and control frameworks
- Experience of effective stakeholder management within a commercial environment
- Commercial acumen - decisiveness on critical business issues and decision making
- Willingness to make ownership & accountability; ability to lead, mentor & coach others
