In the role of Field Officer General Operations, you will be performing a variety of hands-on, practical duties across the national park, from basic maintenance and cleaning of assets, park facilities and workplaces, general ground duties, basic maintenance of walking tracks and trails, undertake weed and fire management activities and responding to general enquiries from visitors in the parks.
**About you**
- Experience in ensuring all work is undertaken with a commitment to the agency’s statutory obligations to care and maintain visitor facilities, park assets and the natural and cultural heritage values of parks.
- Demonstrated ability of ensuring all duties including manual handling, are performed in accordance with the agency’s safe working procedures and the Workplace Health and Safety Act.
- Demonstrated ability to work alone or with a low level of supervision in certain circumstances and exercising initiative when working in remote locations, within agreed work programs.
**Essential Requirements**
- Applicants must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal and accepted in the community as such. Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1997.
- Current Drivers licence and ability to obtain 4wd certification within the probationary period (up to 12 months).
- Demonstrated ability and experience to carry out all duties safely and ability to obtain relevant SafeWork NSW certification to appropriately operate and maintain minor plant and equipment along with an ability and willingness to obtain a First Aid certificate.
- Certification, or ability to obtain certification within the probationary period (up to 12 months), to operate a chainsaw to crosscut standard; ability to operate two-way radio.
- Ability to carry out frontline firefighting duties and support roles including ability to obtain and maintain certification as a crew member within the probationary period, and a willingness to fly in light aircraft.

**About the Branch**
The Greater Sydney Branch manages 20 nature reserves, 16 national parks, 8 state conservation areas, 3 historic sites and 9 regional parks. This includes Royal National Park, renowned as the second oldest national park in the world, and Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, the second oldest national park in Australia.
We work closely with First Nations people to care for diverse landscapes, from dramatic Eucalypt forests in the East to Cumberland Plain Woodland in the West. Our parks host more than 19 million visits each year and we are delivering an ambitious program to improve visitor infrastructure in our key precincts, many of which are State Heritage-listed.
