**The Opportunity**
We have an opportunity for a Field Team Leader, Central to be part of our Biosecurity Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.
The Field Team Leader is part of the Animal Biosecurity Branch within the Biosecurity Division. The primary purpose of the role is to provide staff management, training and leadership for the Animal Health field team in the Regions. They will use their expert knowledge of the _Livestock Act 1997_ and _Animal Welfare Act 1985_ to advise and guide staff in relation to investigations and compliance procedures to ensure district officers within the region are suitably supported in administering their powers under these Acts.
The incumbent will draw on their technical expertise to provide input and advice to project managers and the broader Biosecurity Divisional managers on the development of new internal policy and procedures for field staff, with a particular focus on the Animal Health Manual. A high level of understanding of animal health programs, surveillance and national reporting obligations is required to successfully support industry and key stakeholders in maintaining our local and international livestock markets.
The role contributes delivering the agency’s priorities including emergency response and preparedness, disease surveillance, endemic disease control, livestock identification and compliance with the _Livestock Act 1997_. The role contributes to delivering animal health field services to the livestock industry in the Adelaide Hills, Lower North, Fleurieu, Murray Lands, Murray Mallee and Riverland.

**Requirements**:
- The role is located at Murray Bridge but may be relocated to another district office within the region by negotiation. The incumbent may be required to relocate anywhere in the State.
- Occasional intrastate and interstate travel involving overnight absences will be required.
- Possession of a current driver’s licence and willingness to drive.
- Out of hours work may be required.
- You acknowledge your work, health and safety obligations and our expectations
- The appointee will be gazetted as an Inspector of Stock under the _Livestock Act 1997_.
- Possession of a current firearms licence and be prepared to euthanise livestock.
- Participate in Emergency Animal Disease (EAD) and disaster response at a senior level.
**Qualifications**
- Essential: Degree in Agricultural Science or equivalent.
**Remuneration**
PO3 - $101,285 min - $107,078 max per annum, plus superannuation
