**Who are we**:
With the enactment of the Water Act 2007 (Cth), the Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) was established as an independent expertise-based statutory agency.

For the first time in the Basin's history, one Basin-wide institution is responsible for planning the Basin's water resources, with all planning decisions made in the interest of the Basin as a whole.

This includes procurement and contract management of the internal audit service providers, development and execution of a risk based strategic internal audit program and reporting to the MDBA’s Executive, Audit and Risk Committee on the progress and outcome of internal audit activities.
- Work with business units to embed risk management within business processes, achieve a positive risk culture and otherwise promote awareness of risk and related governance frameworks so that risk identification and mitigation becomes a core element of all MDBA activities.
