- Our WA Aquatic Ecology team provides industry-leading best-practice aquatic ecological services. Specialising in baseline aquatic fauna surveys, impact assessments, deriving site-specific water and sediment quality guidelines, compliance monitoring and environmental management in all types of wetland, river and estuarine ecosystems, the team operates throughout WA and the Indo-Pacific region for government, industry and NGO clients. SLR’s Perth office has a comprehensive range of job-specific equipment for sampling aquatic ecosystem indicators, along with a fully-functional laboratory on premises, with highly-skilled taxonomists in-house and on-hand to process and identify freshwater or estuarine vertebrate and invertebrate specimens from across the Australasian region.
- Articulate, motivated and reliable, you will have relevant experience in assessment and management of ecological matters in consulting, government or industry. To be considered for the Principal role, you will have demonstrated experience in developing a client base and professional network relevant to your role. You will enjoy collaborating on projects and initiatives with the national team and other teams within our multi-disciplinary business.Key Responsibilities

**About the role and what you need to succeed**
An exciting opportunity now exists for a skilled Principal Aquatic Ecologist with at least 8 years' experience to join our Perth office. In this full-time permanent role, you will be responsible for all aspects of project delivery including proposal preparation, project and budget management, leading fieldwork, data analysis and report writing, as well as mentoring our keen junior ecologists.
- You will also be capable of the following:

- Relevant bachelor’s degree in Zoology or related field
- Excellent data analysis skills using uni
- and multivariate techniques, and proven ability to prepare reports to public review standard
- Experience in project management including budgeting, and client liaison from project inception to completion
- Ability to lead and undertake aquatic/water quality fieldwork in remote areas
- An enthusiastic and dedicated approach
